Do you have many newspaper or magazines at your house? It is better if you do not throw away them because trace papers will be functioned. You can make a creation with changing the papers into new papers (recycled papers). The papers which have already been processed have higher value because the papers are looked more beautiful.

We can function all of our talent to make a unique creation. Before making creation, we find the papers first. If we do not have the papers, we can buy from papers’ merchant. Next step, we put the papers in a media with adding water, until the papers become soft. Next step, we put the papers into a machine to separate the papers from dust. Next, the papers are filtered and put into printing. We need to wait for a minute, until dry. Now, you get the recycled papers. Next step, we give coloring to make more beautiful recycled papers. We can add ornaments which in our need. We can some creations; like box, frame, tissue box, bag, note book, etc.

Recycled papers are also good as wrapping gifts. It is good that we can make creation with only functioning trace papers.

Making Cross Stitch

Technique to Start Cross Stitch

1. Prepare equipment and material which is need. If you use smooth fabric, sew the edge of fabric or sew circle with feston stitch to avoid thread fabric out.

2. In making the first stitch, stitch needle pass fabric and rest thread 5 cm length at below of fabric. When you make the first stitches, this thread point can be pushed with thread which passes so the thread point sticks perfectly on fabric and not out.

3. Please start from the center of pattern and then move to out way. It makes sure that the final result is in the center of fabric. Find the center of fabric with folding 2 times to be 4 parts equally. You can sign the center part of cross stitch fabric with signing thread.

4. Codes within pattern show color code of thread in use. Start with the nearest color of center pattern.

5. Make sure the quantity of thread in need. Cut the thread along 45- 60 cm. Hold the thread at left hand, and then throw out the thread one by one with right hand. Join the floss of thread to needle. Try not to pull some of floss directly because it causes the thread disordered or knots.

6. Try to make all cross stitch in the same direction with doing every stitch on the same direction so half stitch of upper part appeared to the same direction.

7. To stop the thread, slip the thread on three or four stitches at down side of fabric and cut the thread point as good as you can.

8. If there are mistake, loose the needle and pull the thread which has already sewed smoothly until the mistake point. After that, continue sewing the same with pattern.

Way of Reading Pattern

1. 1 box on pattern shows 1cross stitch, except if there is another signs.

2. Letter symbol is color code of thread.

3. Do all cross stitch, ¼ stitch, ¾ stitch and ½ stitch with 2 strands of floss, except if there is another signs.

4. Do all backstitch with 1 strand of floss, except there is another signs.

5. Do French knots with 2 strands of floss.

Fractional Stitch, Backstitch, French Knots

Fractional Stitch

The use of ¾ and ¼ stitch makes amazing difference on cross stitch result. This stitch results vault, detail, and mixed color which make the result looked more realistic. Besides ¾ and ¼ stitch, it often to be used ½ stitch which usually create detail of stitch background.

a. ¼ stitch

The method, pull needle from below of fabric on one point of box, then stitch on center part of hole. On strimin fabric, stitch on fabric part which in center box.

b. ½ stitch

The method, pull needle from below of fabric on one down point of box, then stitch needle on top point of box diagonally.

c. ¾ stitch

The method, make one of ¼ stitch and one of ½ stitch which crosses with ¼ stitch on contrary direction.

Backstitch

Backstitch is used to give border line on picture. It will add if all cross stitches are finished. Backstitch can be also used to give detail or highlight on cross stitch result.

The method:

Pull your needle up through hole 1, down through 2, up through 3, and so on.

French Knots

French Knots is used to make small details; such as strawberry points, eye, and flower powder which are shown with circle (dot) symbol on pattern.

The method:

a. Pull out needle from dot in place of making French knot.

b. Hold thread in left hand, and then turn two times on needle in clock’s needle direction.

c. Stitch needle to fabric near with place of thread out. On Aida cloth, you must make new hole; but on Evenweave, you must make hole beside it.

d. Pull needle holed perforated fabric. Becareful to pull thread when the length is only 5 cm to make sure that the knot is tidy and located in the true place.
